The Marcelli Princess by Susan Mallery

Another continuation in the Marcelli Family. Mia Marcelli, the youngest sister, became a spy and gave it all up when the man she loved was killed. Going home and finding out she was pregnant was a shock. Five years later, her long "dead" love comes back to claim her and her son. But he isn't who she expected. She thought she fell in love with the "bad guy" but comes to learn she actually fell in love with a Crown Prince. He has come back into her life to steal her child.

Love this family! Love how they all stick together and support each other. As far as romances go, this one was pretty good. Didn't love the Rafael/Diego lead but I love all the other characters enough to make this enjoyable.

Tempted (book six, House of Night) by P.C. Cast

Zoey continues to fight her attraction to Kalona, while realizing she is the one who is destined to take care of him for good. Zoey and her friends are reeling from the Raven Mockers attack. Stevie Rae has several big secrets of her own the could threaten her friendship with Zoey.

A good continuation to the series with an ending that suprised the heck out of me. Glad Zoey finally told Erik to take a hike, as he is a possessive jerk. Stevie Rae, so worried about her secrets, comes clean (about some of them) and finds that Zoey understands better than anyone about how hard it is keep secrets.

Shimmer by Alyson Noel (#2)

Riley is on a well earned vacation after saving a hard to save soul. Now she creates a challenge when Bodhi and Buttercup get sucked into a world where the girl is holding onto anger after being killed during the time of the slaves.

Easy read. Cute continuation. Didn't love the slave aspect but it was much heavier and darker.

The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake by Aimee Bender

After her mom makes her a lemon cake at age eight, Rose cannsuddenly  taste feelings in her food. She doesn't understand what is happening and is afraid of eating anything. She asks her brother's friend George for help, but George and Joseph (her brother) are too busy in their science world. As she gets older, she learns things about people she wishes she didn't know, such as her mother's affair. Joseph has many strange disappearances and it isn't until later in her life that she realizes her brother has special abilities, which apparently run in the family.

I thought this was a quick read but very odd. In the beginning it was all about how Rose can taste people's feelings in the food. Later in the book we find ou that her grandfather could "smell" people, so this is a family trait. The whole bit with her brother becoming a chair seemed way to out of place for this book. I felt like it belonged in more of a science fiction world. Plus I hated how her mother has this other relationship with another man and her dad is completely cluessless. Very odd book.

The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan (book one)

Jason can't remember anything. He doesn't know who he is, where he came from....he doesn't even remember his friends. Learning he's a demigod is quite a bit of a shock (to his friends Piper and Leo as well). They end up at Camp Half Blood and immediately set out on their quest to save Hera and keep the King from rising!

Really loved this book. I love everything about Greek mythology and enjoyed the Percy Jackson series. In this book, Annabeth is off to try and find Percy (which has a cool twist at the end), Jason starts to remember his life (but only what Hera wants him to remember) and learns he has a sister. Piper is claimed by Aphrodite and learns she's more than a pretty face. Leo, who has cool fire, is claimed immediately and sets off on the quest with his magical tool belt!

I really liked the portrayal of the wind god, Aerolus (spelling wrong I'm sure). He's moody and tempermental but just plain funny. In this book we are introduced to some new gods that are interesting and unique.

Unearthly by Cynthia Hand (#1)

Clara is an angel-blood. She starts having visions, detailing her purpose for her life. Her family picks up and moves to Wyoming to fulfull this purpose. While she tries to figure out just what it is she needs to do, she falls in love with Tucker, who finally understands why she acts so strange and different all the time. Christian is her purpose but Clara has a difficult time getting Tucker out of her head. Meanwhile, the Dark Wings pose a threat to her and her family.

I loved this book! It took me a while to get hooked, but then I just couldn't put it down. The characters are well written. I really love Tucker and how selfless he is when he realizes why Clara is drawn to Christian, not because she loves him but because he is her purpose. The ending to me was one of the best parts because it was definitely suprising and left you hanging!

Infinity: Chronicles of Nick (#1) by Sherilyn Kenyon

Nick gets beat up by his friends and wants revenge. After a stint in the hospital, he starts working for Kyrian Hunter, who isn't what he seems. Suddenly he learns more about the world around him, more than he expected.

I really enjoyed this book. Nick has tons of sarcastic comments (which is great). His world is basically not what he thinks but he keeps his strong attitude and finds his sense of right. The characters are well developed. I loved the Simi character. She has a crazy speech pattern and is just all around funny!
