She's in love with Tucker and can't imagine giving him up, but realizes Christian plays a huge part in her future. She struggles with making the right choices and fighting her destiny. When she discovers her mom is dying then everything changes.

When I read Unearthly, I thought it was okay. Didn't love it, didn't dislike it but just thought it was so so. I had a hard time remembered what had happened in that book when I started this one. I really enjoyed this one much more. I was rooting for Christian the whole time. He understands Clara, has so much in common and of course he is her destiny. Tucker can never understand her angel side. I felt bad for him because she was pushing him away but he had no idea how to realate.

The suprise for me was finding out about Jeremy's purpose. Didn't know he had one because they never wrote from his perspective just showed that he was acting strange.
I love how Allen's books have a little bit of magic in them. In this particular story, a girl comes to her mom's hometown, not knowing the damage her mom caused when she was a teenager. She is drawn to a boy who she has been told to stay away from but doesn't know why. I enjoyed the character development and the relationship between the girl and her neighbor, grandfather and of course her love interest.Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00868827363278032142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5849121444869386532.post-34965765312419518252012-03-03T09:00:00.000-05:002012-03-03T09:00:23.448-05:00Dragonswood by Janet Lee CareyThis story is set in the time of the witch hunts, with a little fantasy (dragons) thrown in. People are banned from going into Dragonswood, but several girls do. They are seen and thought to be witches.
Fast forward to 2009, he and his girlfriend get caught up in a horrific shooting in which his girlfriend Holly is fatally shot. Before he knows it, Jackson is "jumping" backwards in time two years. Despite everything he can't get back.

Jackson had a lot of personal struggles going on. First he feels guilty for leaving his girlfriend dying on the floor but can't figure out how to get back. He has to pretend to be his seventeen year old self, but realizing that his dad and others working with his dad know more than they let on.
Crazy me thought, yay, end of series. But why is there a book eleven? I now know. Dan and Amy may have finished the clue hunt, but now they have a new mission. I've only found a handful that I've read enjoyed, the rest were ones that I just had to put aside. I"m happy to report that I really loved this book. Even though it is another faerie story and there are some ridiculous things (faeries that bloom like flowers....not sure about that). The story is sweet as it follows Laurel's journey to figuring out who and what she is. She has a friend (who is a potential boyfriend) that she really likes but is pulled towards a male faerie. Laurel has to deal with the fact that she's olde than expected, and has been planted into the human world with a mission. I got into this book quickly and read through it just as fast. I loved how the character felt remorse over what she was doing and didn't want to do what her family asked. It was a simple story with unique characters who feed off of people's grief and tears, which in some way is not such a bad thing.Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00868827363278032142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5849121444869386532.post-78394453491927449022012-01-21T08:59:00.000-05:002012-01-21T08:59:59.884-05:00Shatter Me by Tahereh MafiThis was a book I definitely enjoyed. The main character has a special power: she kills people she touches. This story is sort of a post apocolyptic type work. Everyone is at war, people are losing power and freedom and here's this girl, who has pretty much lost all hope and finds she can actually become part of this special group of people with powers.

The book was action packed, had some romance (yay). Was written in an interesting format. The character, whose name I cannot remember since it was so long ago, always has a little notebook that she writes in. I guess she uses it to make sense of her situation or to keep from going insane. So much of the book has little things where she is repeating herself, trying to make sense.
The focus of this book is basically a girl who has an eating disorder and finds out she is one of the four horsemen of the apocolypse (did I spell that right?), which is kind of cool. Of course since she has an eating disorder, she is famine. She is supposed to work along with the other three to bring destruction to the earth but learns she can actually help.

This was an okay book. I read it. I finished it. It was there. There was a little too much detail with the eating disorders. Did I mention this girl's friend was bulemic? So, didn't love reading about that but also got a view into what people with eating disorders probably feel like.Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00868827363278032142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5849121444869386532.post-69672378298851792042012-01-21T08:51:00.002-05:002012-01-21T08:51:52.894-05:00Fallen by Erin McCarthy

In the past, I've loved all of Erin McCarthy's books. The ones that I have read that is. I loved the book cover of this one but just didn't connect with the story. It definitely was a good mystery as to "who did it?". But I hate murder type stories (which this one was....and it was definitely gory at times). I hate mysteries as well. So this just didn't do it for me. I read the whole thing, not exactly sure why. But definitely feel like it was time wasted since I didn't enjoy it.Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00868827363278032142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5849121444869386532.post-72086238888857036052011-12-27T08:31:00.000-05:002011-12-27T08:31:59.017-05:00Enthralled by Melissa Marr (and other authors)

Didn't love this book. It was short stories, which are usually fine but most, if not all of them, seemed like they ended abruptly and were missing too much of the story. Many left you hanging, which may be the purpose of short stories, I'm not sure. In comparison to other short stories I've read, this just left me feeling cheated, like I'd missed out on too much. Some stories were better than others, and some I just completely skipped.Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00868827363278032142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5849121444869386532.post-28305928809687821372011-12-27T08:29:00.000-05:002011-12-27T08:29:38.954-05:00Completely Smitten by Susan Mallery

Since this was a book shared with another author (another story within this book) it seemed like it was a shorter version. Haley is running away from her father and church community when she meets Kevin, a US Marshal. I liked this story because Haley is very naive, doesn't know much about how the world works and ends up depending on Kevin to teach her about life while she's figuring things out.Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00868827363278032142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5849121444869386532.post-73478958858716052502011-12-27T08:27:00.000-05:002011-12-27T08:27:06.150-05:00Misguided Angel by Melissa de la CruzSchuyler and Jack are on a mission to continue Lawrence's work and figure out just what is going on. Mimi is back in NY playing regent.

I love Schuyler and Jack's relationship, even if they are somewhat old fashioned in how they speak with each other. I guess since Jack is technically a fallen angel, he's been around a while. They are trying to figure out what's going on while hiding out from Mimi, since Jack has broken their bond.
Personally I vote for the former. In this book, Biance is sneaking around to meet Lucas (her "love") while using Balthazar and helping him with his sister. Even though the storyline did move, I'm not a huge fan of the choices Bianca makes. She's rash and selfish. She doesn't seem to worry about anyone other than herself, Lucas, and figuring out what's going on at Evernight (which in turn is helping Lucas). At the end she ends up becoming a member of the Black Cross after they invaded her Evernight home and probably killed many people she knows and loves. I'm hoping in the third book Bianca grows up, gets a spine and kicks Lucas to the curb.Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00868827363278032142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5849121444869386532.post-2093925289596190942011-12-27T08:20:00.000-05:002011-12-27T08:20:41.118-05:00Happy Chaos by Soleil Moon Frye

Usually I don't read many nonfiction or parenting books. When I do I skip a lot of pages and skim because they really aren't "reader friendly." This one I truly enjoyed reading. I loved the writing style and the format of the chapters. I enjoyed reading about Soleil Moon Frye's life since I did watch her on Punky Brewster (who didn't). So I enjoyed her take on parenting, advice for her children and learning more about her childhood and marriage.Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00868827363278032142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5849121444869386532.post-40713339199998563382011-12-27T08:18:00.000-05:002011-12-27T08:18:23.163-05:00When You Dare by Lori Foster

Usually I love Lori Foster. Love the romance, the situations, the characters........I loved the characters in this book but not the situation. Molly is rescued by Dare, after he finds that she (and his friend's sister) have been abducted to Mexico to be sold. There was just something about reading of an abduction that just made me uneasy. While the rest of the story was fine, the beginning just set things off for me. I did read the whole book.Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00868827363278032142noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5849121444869386532.post-10503845251137056352011-12-11T19:58:00.000-05:002011-12-11T19:58:52.178-05:00Falling Under by Gwen Hayes

I enjoyed this book even though it was a little "horrific" at times. Haden (the bad guy....of course) is a demon who has to take a human bride and bring her back to the underworld. Except he falls for Theia. Unexpectedly. What I really liked about this story is that Theia didn't wait around for someone to rescue her. She did what she needed to do to save the person she loved. Many books have main female characters who are super wimpy and whine all the time. She did pine for Haden when he went back to Under but at least in the end, she stood up for him, making a dangerous deal with his mother and saving him (until he came back to save her).Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00868827363278032142noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5849121444869386532.post-72157778873725539582011-12-11T19:55:00.000-05:002011-12-11T19:55:44.385-05:00Bloody Valentine by Melissa de la Cruz

Three short stories from the Blue Bloods novel. I enjoyed all three. I like hearing more about Schuyler's mother before she ended up in her coma. I think I was more in love with the book cover than the actual story. This second book I really didn't love. It was pretty gross in some descriptions (but I guess if you are writing a story about the Underworld, it's gotta be gross). Bethany has to deal with being kidnapped and trying to survive in Hell. Jake, her kidnapper, wants what he wants and doesn't care what he has to do to get it. It was a long book and I felt like it was just a tough read. I really wanted to love this book but it just didn't happen. I did love the cover though.Amyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00868827363278032142noreply@blogger.com2
