Bloodlust by L.J. Smith

Really enjoyed reading about Stefan's past. Happily introduced to Lexi and got a little backstory of how she and Stefan met and just how and why he changed from a killer to a vampire with a conscience.

Into the Gauntlet by Margaret Peterson Haddix

I was really excited when I realized the clue hunt was over. Crazy me thought, yay, end of series. But why is there a book eleven? I now know. Dan and Amy may have finished the clue hunt, but now they have a new mission. My mission is now to decide: do I keep reading or call it quits. I've enjoyed the series but after reading a previous series that was twelve books long, I told myself no more long series! So here I am, ten books later.....

First Day on Earth by Cecil Castellucci

Strange story of a guy who thinks he's been abducted by aliens then ends up meeting a real life alien (we think) in his therapy group. Fast read but weird.

Wings by Aprilynne Pike

Rarely do I read or enjoy fairy (or is is faerie) stories. I've only found a handful that I've read enjoyed, the rest were ones that I just had to put aside. I"m happy to report that I really loved this book. Even though it is another faerie story and there are some ridiculous things (faeries that bloom like flowers....not sure about that). The story is sweet as it follows Laurel's journey to figuring out who and what she is. She has a friend (who is a potential boyfriend) that she really likes but is pulled towards a male faerie. Laurel has to deal with the fact that she's olde than expected, and has been planted into the human world with a mission. Love this book.

The Tear Collector by Patrick Jones

I was amazed at how easy this author's writing style is. I got into this book quickly and read through it just as fast. I loved how the character felt remorse over what she was doing and didn't want to do what her family asked. It was a simple story with unique characters who feed off of people's grief and tears, which in some way is not such a bad thing.

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

This was a book I definitely enjoyed. The main character has a special power: she kills people she touches. This story is sort of a post apocolyptic type work. Everyone is at war, people are losing power and freedom and here's this girl, who has pretty much lost all hope and finds she can actually become part of this special group of people with powers.

The book was action packed, had some romance (yay). Was written in an interesting format. The character, whose name I cannot remember since it was so long ago, always has a little notebook that she writes in. I guess she uses it to make sense of her situation or to keep from going insane. So much of the book has little things where she is repeating herself, trying to make sense.

It has a great cover, great storyline, and I like that it had a lot of action so it kept me hooked.

Hunger by Jackie Morse Kesslar

Dark, dark, dark. Seems when I read this book I must have been depressed or something. The focus of this book is basically a girl who has an eating disorder and finds out she is one of the four horsemen of the apocolypse (did I spell that right?), which is kind of cool. Of course since she has an eating disorder, she is famine. She is supposed to work along with the other three to bring destruction to the earth but learns she can actually help.

This was an okay book. I read it. I finished it. It was there. There was a little too much detail with the eating disorders. Did I mention this girl's friend was bulemic? So, didn't love reading about that but also got a view into what people with eating disorders probably feel like.

Fallen by Erin McCarthy

In the past, I've loved all of Erin McCarthy's books. The ones that I have read that is. I loved the book cover of this one but just didn't connect with the story. It definitely was a good mystery as to "who did it?". But I hate murder type stories (which this one was....and it was definitely gory at times). I hate mysteries as well. So this just didn't do it for me. I read the whole thing, not exactly sure why. But definitely feel like it was time wasted since I didn't enjoy it.
