Tempest by Julie Cross

At age eighteen, Jackson realizes he can time travel. Fast forward to 2009, he and his girlfriend get caught up in a horrific shooting in which his girlfriend Holly is fatally shot. Before he knows it, Jackson is "jumping" backwards in time two years. Despite everything he can't get back.

Jackson had a lot of personal struggles going on. First he feels guilty for leaving his girlfriend dying on the floor but can't figure out how to get back. He has to pretend to be his seventeen year old self, but realizing that his dad and others working with his dad know more than they let on.

This was a slow going book for me. Took me a really long while to get into it, but I did enjoy the storyline even if it did have quite a bit of science fiction.
