Hallowed by Cynthia Hand

Clara didn't fulfill her purpose and now she has no clue what that means or what will happen. She's in love with Tucker and can't imagine giving him up, but realizes Christian plays a huge part in her future. She struggles with making the right choices and fighting her destiny. When she discovers her mom is dying then everything changes.

When I read Unearthly, I thought it was okay. Didn't love it, didn't dislike it but just thought it was so so. I had a hard time remembered what had happened in that book when I started this one. I really enjoyed this one much more. I was rooting for Christian the whole time. He understands Clara, has so much in common and of course he is her destiny. Tucker can never understand her angel side. I felt bad for him because she was pushing him away but he had no idea how to realate.

The suprise for me was finding out about Jeremy's purpose. Didn't know he had one because they never wrote from his perspective just showed that he was acting strange.

Overall this was a great book!

The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen

This is the second book by this author that I have read and loved every minute of it. I love how Allen's books have a little bit of magic in them. In this particular story, a girl comes to her mom's hometown, not knowing the damage her mom caused when she was a teenager. She is drawn to a boy who she has been told to stay away from but doesn't know why. I enjoyed the character development and the relationship between the girl and her neighbor, grandfather and of course her love interest.

Dragonswood by Janet Lee Carey

This story is set in the time of the witch hunts, with a little fantasy (dragons) thrown in. People are banned from going into Dragonswood, but several girls do. They are seen and thought to be witches.

The story was so so. I read it because I wanted to see how the dragon thing played out but it was a slow read, picked up towards the end but definitely not my style or genre.

Sugar Rush by Donna Kauffman

Cute story of a New York City pastry chef who moves back to her summer hometown, Sugarberry, Georgia and opens a cupcake shop. Her big city mentor (and resident hottie chef) follows her with his tv show to win her back.

I enjoyed the story but Kauffman's writing style just isn't as easy to read as others. I liked the relationship aspects and the character working in her own bakery and using baking as therapy (which I can totally relate to).

Tempest by Julie Cross

At age eighteen, Jackson realizes he can time travel. Fast forward to 2009, he and his girlfriend get caught up in a horrific shooting in which his girlfriend Holly is fatally shot. Before he knows it, Jackson is "jumping" backwards in time two years. Despite everything he can't get back.

Jackson had a lot of personal struggles going on. First he feels guilty for leaving his girlfriend dying on the floor but can't figure out how to get back. He has to pretend to be his seventeen year old self, but realizing that his dad and others working with his dad know more than they let on.

This was a slow going book for me. Took me a really long while to get into it, but I did enjoy the storyline even if it did have quite a bit of science fiction.

Fins Are Forever by Terra Lynn Childs

I loved the first mermaid tale. Fins are Forever follows the main character who is thinking of giving up her place in the royal kingdom, for the love of her life who just so happens to be a human.

I really enjoyed the "under the sea" aspect to this story and watch the character struggle with making a decision based on what she feels is right versus what everyone expects of her.

The Craving (Stefan's Diaries) by L. J. Smith

Stefan's story continued. Stefan and Damon, who has found him again, marry sisters who end up being killed by Klaus.

Bloodlust by L.J. Smith

Really enjoyed reading about Stefan's past. Happily introduced to Lexi and got a little backstory of how she and Stefan met and just how and why he changed from a killer to a vampire with a conscience.

Into the Gauntlet by Margaret Peterson Haddix

I was really excited when I realized the clue hunt was over. Crazy me thought, yay, end of series. But why is there a book eleven? I now know. Dan and Amy may have finished the clue hunt, but now they have a new mission. My mission is now to decide: do I keep reading or call it quits. I've enjoyed the series but after reading a previous series that was twelve books long, I told myself no more long series! So here I am, ten books later.....

First Day on Earth by Cecil Castellucci

Strange story of a guy who thinks he's been abducted by aliens then ends up meeting a real life alien (we think) in his therapy group. Fast read but weird.
